Bloggy Wars: aka the day I got chewed out on InstaGram

Several days ago, I posted a comment on InstaGram. In fact, it was a comment on one of Kelle Hampton's pictures of her nursing Nella. (By the way, have any of y'all read her book Bloom. I just ordered it and I can't wait to read it). I had asked a question to another commenter re:her comment saying that she was nursing 35 months and going strong.

Even though I am not a mother, I know it is an accomplishment for however long you nurse. I asked her a question and she B-L-E-W up at me. She wrote me a paragraph about how I was offending her and Kelle etc etc etc. I was upset, not because she blew up at me unexpectedly, but that I came across sounding like I was judging her or being mean. I felt awful.

I politely explained that I was still in high school, I've never been a mom, and I didn't mean to offend her. I never heard back a reply so I left it as that. I did get on twitter and talk to Neely (one of my fav bloggers btw) about the situation. I was so confused on top of it all. Sheesh!

I wanted to share about what happened, not to cause more trouble or get a mean blog comment (I don't need ANY more), but to just process some of my thoughts about this said situation.

I know that there are thousands of blogs written by multiple people from all background. There are parenting blogs, mommy blogs, family blogs, blogs from working mommies,  business blogs, and photography blogs. Honestly, the list could go on and on and on. The blogs that I read through on a daily/weekly basis are the ones that I have something in common with, I know the person, or I just downright love reading them.

That being said, I really don't know why people, especially women feel the need to look down on and criticize other women? Why do we feel the need to tear each other apart with our words? Why do we leave mean comments? I don't get that. I hate getting mean comments on my blog and I only have 69 followers. I can't image how big name bloggers handle the nastiness. Honestly, if you hate someone's blog and disagree with them, either keep reading their blog and keep your opinions and thoughts to yourself, or just stop reading their blog altogether.

Some of the blogs I read, I know that I probably don't see eye to eye on every single thing with the writer. You might even feel the same way as I do. I know big debates on mommy blogs like working vs. stay at home mom, formula vs. breast feeding, c-section vs. not, co-sleeping vs. not, the list could honestly go on and on. I have seen SO many hurtful, mean comments from people that it makes me sick. Can't we at least try to get along?

I know that I have developed a lovely community of friends in the blogging world and I love it! I love spending time in my day reading about y'all's life and adventures in dating, mommyhood, etc. I know it sounds shallow to say I wish we could all get along, but I really wish that we could use what our mother's taught us from the time we were little; if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all. If this doesn't work for you, I found something on Pinterest for you instead.

Happy Sunday!

Love,

Emily

Couch to 5K: so far

I started C25K on January 2nd! It was a New Year's Resolution of mine to get healthy and get in shape. I was tired of being tired and lazy all the time. I couldn't run around with my siblings outside or play outside with friends because I was always doubled over catching my breath. Awful I know. I wasn't overweight but I had put on some unhealthy weight over the summer eating fastfood twice a day and sitting at a desk all day. I just didn't feel healthy. Something had to change. Several of my bloggers friends started this last fall and so I began to pick their brains and get some inspiration and motivation. I got 2 of my closest friends together and we decided to go for it. I thought about getting new shoes or new running clothes but I needed to just do it. (thank-you Nike)

I started. I finished week 1 and thought holy cow. I did it! Then week 2, then 3, 4 and holy crap during week 5 I ran 9 minutes without stopping! 9 minutes is a loooong time for a couch potato let me tell you. I didn't stop. not once. I feel very proud of myself! :) I was doing this. I was completing a goal.

Then came week 6 last week, aka, run for 20 minutes without stopping. I got sick to make that worse. I think week 6 needs a re-do this week! But, I will finish and I WILL run a 5K this Spring! I will. In the mean time, I'm going to leave you with some cheesy motivational Pinterest pictures. You can thank me later! and PS if y'all have any tips for running, 5K's, exercise, etc please pass my way!!

Maybe one day I'll look this coordinated
wishful thinking

Happy Sunday!

Pinterest: The Truth

The Truth about Pinterest!

It's been a little while since I've done a Pinterest post. But not because I haven't pinned hundreds of things over the past couple weeks. Literally. I'm addicted. There is a pin for that. In fact, there is a pin for everything; a pin about pinning, a pin about being addicted to pinning, a pin about Pinterest, you get the idea.

*I have 123 followers HOW?? I have no clue how that happened. I'm struggling to even get past 100 followers on Twitter. I'm love it though! Makes me feel all famous and stuff.
*I have 33 boards ranging from DIY to Quotes or Bridesmaids Dress and Coffee. Variety is the spice of life I'll say. Isn't there a pin for that?
* I have 287 pins

This about hits the nail on the head!
too funny!

Story of my life :)

Truth.

Happy Saturday!

Pinnable Me: S'mores

Pinterest: S'mores
Nothing quite says Fall like a hayride with friends, a big bonfire, and making s'mores around the fire. Fall is not complete unless you have participated in at least one, if not all of these activities. (in my own opinion) Today my Pinterest Post is on S'mores. There are several ways to make s'mores. Outside over a bonfire, inside in your fireplace, or even in the microwave. Here are just a few of the ideas I found this week! Have fun looking! Feel free to link up with me!

How cute is this?

Microwave S'mores are perfect for families with small children. Safe, tons of fun, and you can even enjoy during bad weather :) Just assemble everything and microwave for 10-15 second. Perfection.

Check out this handy little machine!
How funny is that?
It's only $9.95 from this website !

This was originally pinned on to Wedding Inspiration
for the wedding favors!
You could totally use this for party favors for a fall party.

Idea 2 :)

I know Halloween already passed,
but I thought this was pretty cute :)

I just love this :)

Happy Monday!

Love,
